MESSAGE FROM THE HEADMASTER
Dear Parents
The year 2011 is at an end for the Jeppe family. As Jeppe Boys we can look back at a successful year with the knowledge that we have grown as a school. There is however still room for improvement and we have put strategic plans in place for the next three years to tackle all the areas which we have identified as areas where further improvement is needed.
In 2011 we placed a premium on Academics and we have certainly seen an improvement in the most important area of any school. Our averages in all subjects are on the up, our distinction ratios have improved and our failure percentage is the lowest in three years. In 2012 we will introduce further plans to improve as we believe that we can and must produce better results.
The Extra-Curricular program was very successful with about 70% of the boys participating in the various cultural and sporting codes on offer. Many of our boys have excelled and attained provincial and national colours. In 2012 we are looking to improve and focus on the Cultural program and to grow the number of boys who participate in this field.
My sincere thanks To the SGB under the leadership of Mr Kevin Jarvis who have been very supportive and always put the interest of Jeppe Boys first in all the decisions they made. Their assistance and advise have benefitted us all.
Mr. L Stegmann and his team have once again made sure that our grounds and buildings are in good condition and they have spent many hours upgrading and maintaining our classrooms and fields. My sincere thanks this team who will always go the extra mile. In the same manner we have to thank our Finance Department and Admin staffs who have worked extremely hard to ensure that the School can excel.
We are saying farewell to Mrs S Muller who has decided to retire. Mrs Muller has been a valuable member of the English department for many years. Under her guidance the English department has flourished and she will be missed for her dedication and drive to always assist our boys. Mr. Booysen, Mr. Kieswetter and Mr. Muller are also leaving and we thank them for the work they did at Jeppe Boys.
No School can produce results if they do not have dedicated, passionate and committed staff. I am really fortunate to work with the Jeppe staff. The success of our school is because of their ongoing efforts in the class as well as in the Extra-Curricular program. My sincere thanks to each and every-one of them.
May I take this opportunity to wish all parents, boys and staff a blessed Festive season and I look forward to seeing you in 2012.
