MIC of Athletics:
Field and track athletics is one of the oldest sporting codes on offer at Jeppe. The Interhouse competition, now called the Dudley Wallendorf Shield has been going for 100 years, so the sport has been in existence at the school for at least that long.
The athletics programme has two parts. A mass participation activity which takes place in the third term and starts with the interhouse competition – which doubles up as the school championship and ends with the Gauteng Boys’ Schools Interhigh meeting. Preceding that, in the first term, the Elite Athletes programme takes place, involving a smaller number of the school’s top athletes who are given the opportunity to participate in meetings involving schools who participate in the national federation’s competitions, culminating in trials for the Gauteng provincial teams and the national championships.
