Following the phenomenal achievements of Mpho Tladi in the hurdles last year, Jeppe is proud to have another outstanding athlete in our ranks.
He is Ntuthuko Ndimande who won the under-18 800m at the Athletics South Africa Youth and Junior Track and Field Championships in Cape Town during the Easter holidays
His winning time of 1:49:69 was two seconds outside of the national under-18 record, and faster than the under-20 winning time in the day. Ntuthoko is only 15 years old, which makes his achievement all the more special. He will qualify to compete in the same division again next year and that SA record is firmly in his sights.
There were three Jeppe High School for Boys athletes at the Junior Nationals.
Lesedi Moloto placed 8th in the under-15 long jump, while Mzwakhe Mashaba came 4th in the under-15 1500m and won the bronze medal in the under-15 3000m.
Ntuthuko will be competing in the CAA African Youth Championships in Equatorial Guinea from June 29 to July 2. He has also qualified to compete in the IAAF World Youth Championships to be held in Nairobi, Kenya in July this year.
