Leaving a Lasting Legacy
Aim
To enable merit worthy but financially disadvantaged boys to benefit from the quality of education enjoyed by previous generations of Jeppe boys.
Objective
To create an annuity income stream greater than R50 000-00 per month.
Method
The establishment of a structured sponsorship programme whereby groups of Jeppe Alumni and other members of the Jeppe Family each contributing R100 per month sponsor specified Jeppe Boys. Some donors may wish to sponsor more - there are already some boys fully sponsored by individuals, and others less - no regular donation is too small to be significant.  A picture of the sponsored boy will be posted on the Jeppe Website at www.jeppeboys.co.za, with acknowledgement of his sponsoring group and regular updates of his progress. As high school attendance is normally for five-years, wherever possible donors should keep their contribution running at least that long.

At current school fees of R16 300, 14 sponsors of R100 per month will pay the full school fee of a day boy. It is envisaged that once the sponsored pupil matriculates another Grade 8 pupil will be allocated to the group for the following five years.

The multiplier effect of this model is considerable as more year groups join the programme. 50 sponsoring groups would result in 10 new boys a year being sponsored. They would be selected on the basis of need and merit. As applications would be done via the Jeppe Foundation, this would enable the School to bypass the twin government imposed threats of controlling admissions and unenforceable tuition fee payments. 50 sponsored boys altogether (10 per year X 5 years) would produce an annual income stream to the School of R815 000 at current rates.  An income injection of this nature will radically improve the School’s cash flow thus ensuring long term sustainability.

It is well known that a quality education, especially a university entrance matric, is the most significant ‘helping hand’ that anyone can receive because it places the recipient in a position to help himself out of the poverty trap. Apart from the satisfaction of leaving a living legacy in this meaningful way, most donors should also qualify for a tax deduction at their applicable marginal rate. All donors will also be sent a DVD of Herman Charles Bosman’s Jeppe High Revisited narrated by David Butler.
