The Gauteng Department of Education has changed the promotion requirements at both GET (Grade 8 and Grade 9) and FET (Grade 10 and Grade 11) level. As this is now a legal requirement, the school has implemented these changes with immediate effect.

 

The changes made at GET Level are as follows:

Previously		Changes
LLC Average	40%	Either English or Afrikaans	40%
Mathematics	40%	Other Language	30%
Remaining Six Subjects	35%	Maths	40%
		Four Subjects	40%

 

 

 

The changes made at FET Level are as follows:

Previously		Changes
English	40%	Three Subjects greater than 40% (One must be English)
Second Language	30%	Three Subjects greater than 30%
Mathematics or Mathematics Literacy	30%
Life Orientation	40%

 

 

  

Please note that merely passing a grade at the minimum level will make almost impossible to enter Universities and Universities of Technology. Encourage your son to strive for their maximum academic potential as the higher their marks, the more opportunities there will be.
