EXAM RULES FOR LEARNERS

  • Boys will consult the seating plan for each venue and sit at their assigned desks.

  • Boys will sign an attendance register before an examination begins.

  • Boys are to be seated 15 minutes before the start of the exam. Anyone who arrives after this time will remain outside the exam venue and only gain admittance 15 minutes after the start of the exam and will not be granted extra time.

  • If boys are going to be late for an examination due to circumstances beyond their control, they (or their parents must contact the school on 011 614 1938.

  • Boys will remain for the duration of the exam session.

  • Boys may not leave the exam venue for any reason during an exam. (Go to the toilet beforehand.)

  • Boys’ bags must be placed at the front of the room, or outside. Boys are reminded not to bring any valuables to school, as the school will not be held responsible for loss or theft in this regard.

  • Boys may only use transparent pencil cases.

  • There will be no lending or borrowing of any kind.

  • There will be no eating or drinking during an exam.

  • Boys must use blue ink only. Tippex is banned. If it is seen by invigilators it will be confiscated.

  • A boy caught in possession of a cell phone will be given zero for that exam and his phone will be confiscated until after exams.

  • Boys may not listen to iPods or other similar devices. If found these will be confiscated until after exams.

  • Boys may not have any extra pieces of paper or notes in their possession.

  • Any boy who sits in a way that allows others to see his work will be considered to be cribbing.

  • Should a boy miss an exam he must provide a doctor’s note. (A letter from parents is NOT acceptable.) No doctor’s note = no mark for that exam.

  • If a boy’s uniform is not regulation he will be evicted from the exam room until it is. This rule will also apply to boys who are unshaven or whose hair is unacceptable.

  • If a boy behaves inappropriately while he is in the exam room he will be asked to leave the room immediately. A boy who refuses to leave will face immediate suspension.

  • When an invigilator ends an examination boys will stop writing immediately.

  • If a boy comes to school for an extra lesson during school time, he MUST be in school uniform. The security guards have been instructed not to allow boys in civvies onto the property. This applies to hostel boys as well.

  • If a boy comes onto the property for an extra lesson he may not loiter around the campus. He is to attend the extra lesson and then leave the property immediately. This applies to hostel boys as well.

  • Boys may not play ball games on the field between exams.
