Jeppes’ 1st cricket season has carried on its good from the first part of the season at the end of last year.
When we beat Pretoria Boys’ High by 10 wickets last weekend it was our fourth win in a row, including a historic first ever win over Pretoria Affies the week before. There is a long and challenging season still lying ahead, but the team is shaping up as a formidable unit, made up of a good balance between youth and experience.
Two of the seniors, the captain Linda Ndlovu and spin bowler Kgaudise Molefe, were in the Central Gauteng Lions team that won the main game at the Coca-Cola Khaya Majola Week at the end of last year and Molefe was selected for the SA Schools team and the national under-19 side. On the other end of the scale they have Dylan Nicholas who is only 15 and in grade 10 and who has already made a few big scores.
Mr Roland Blanks, the team’s assistant coach says a number of the players have shown a significant improvement. “We have an exciting bowling attack and batsmen who have shown they can score runs. If both units are firing we are capable of beating some good sides.”
The summarised scoreboard of the Pretoria Boys’ High game is:
Pretoria Boys’ High 100 (Ruan van Rooyen 29; Kgaudise Molefe 2-18, Cian Robertson 4-17).
Jeppe 102-0 (Dylan Nicholas 24 not out, Brayden Hicks 70 not out). Jeppe won by 10 wickets.
