Rowing Results – Buffalo and Selborne Sprint Regattas

The U16 and U19 Rowing Squads toured to East London last week to take part in two regattas – The 130th Buffalo Grand Challenge Regatta, and the Selborne Sprints Regatta. Heats are raced with only the top 6 crews making finals.

The Selborne Sprints regatta is raced over 500m and comprises heats and finals on the same day. Out of 17 boats entered, Jeppe qualified for seven A finals.

The Buffalo Regatta is the priority regatta for the weekend. Raced over 2000m with heats on Thursday and finals on Saturday. Out of 16 boats, Jeppe qualified for ten A finals. Notably, the First Pair and First Four were the fastest qualifiers in their divisions.

Our 1st Pair were placed first in their A Final and our 1st Four were awarded 1st place as the fastest qualifiers when the final race was cancelled due to lightning.  Unfortunately a few of the finals were cancelled due to bad weather.

Well done to the entire rowing club who did the school proud in all their races.

Over and above the outstanding results achieved, the club was also awarded a prize of R20 000 for being the club with the greatest combination of both transformation and high performance on the water.
