Basketball ends the year on a high note

The first half of the basketball season drew to a close last weekend with the playing of the Inanda Hoops tournament at St David’s. Jeppe did very well in both sections, the 1st team ended up 3rd and the under-15s came 5th.

The under-19 tournament was a “stayers” competition, for boys in grade 12 and below, and the young Jeppe 1st team showed that they are going to be a force to be reckoned with next year when they get to know each other better.

They swept aside all opposition in their preliminary pool games and then came up against a strong St Stithians team in the semifinals. They were in the game throughout, but Saints finished strongly in the final minutes to win 51-44.

The under-15s did not make the semifinals, but they won their play off games to end up in 5th place in their competition.

Jeppe 1st team captain Ocean Tshimbalanga was included in the tournament team that was announced.
