Gabriel and Lesedi are rewriting the record books

Gabriel Zeid and Lesedi Moloto

Jeppe jumpers Lesedi Moloto and Gabriel Zeid are busy rewriting the school’s athletics record book.

Last weekend at the triangular meeting at KES Gabriel jumped 14.30m in the under-17 triple jump to smash the 13.70m record set in 2000. At the interhouse meeting earlier this month he went 6.92m in the long jump, breaking Malcolm Mabanga’s record of 6.87m set in 2004.

Lesedi Molto broke Tyrone Green’s 2014 record of 6.47m in the under-16 long jump. He jumped 6.62m at the interhouse meeting. Lesedi now holds the school records in the under-14, under-15 and under-16 long jump.

Both athletes are part of Jeppe’s 1st term Elite Athletes programme and both represented Gauteng at the SA Junior Championships in March. Gabriel won the bronze medal in the under-17 long jump and Lesdi came 6th in the under-16 long jump.

Both say they are looking forward to competing for Jeppe at the interhigh next month.
