Geddes Cup tradition continues

The 41st Geddes Cup took place in the Payne Hall recently.

The Geddes Cup is an internal competition hosted by Jeppe High School for Boys. It’s a solo pipes and drums competition that only members of the Jeppe pipe band are allowed to compete in.

The overall piping and drumming champion receives the acclaimed title of “Geddes Cup winner” for that year.

The band members love the competition as they each get a chance to play in front of a packed audience in the Payne Hall.

The competition is about more than just winning the prize, it aims to build character and band morale. The band members are incredibly supportive towards one another on the evening and they look forward to the Geddes Cup with much excitement every year.

The winners on the night were:

Geddes Cup Piping (Juvenile) – Garrin Walker
Novice Juvenile Piping – Brett Harzon
Snare Drumming (Juvenile) – Dylan Chadwick
Novice Juvenile Drumming – Jude Hide
Juvenile Tenor – Leila Schultz
Novice Juvenile Tenor – Pranav Harrichund
Bass Drumming – Siobhan Naude

The Jeppe Pipe Band Leadership for the next year is traditionally also announced on the evening and the 2018 leaders are as follows:
