The Jeppe Boys Pipe Band will host their Annual Highland Gathering on Saturday 12 May – there will be a food and craft which will run throughout the day, this is put on by the Johannesburg Food and Craft Market.
The Jeppe band will compete in the morning, between 10:00 and 11:00. The gathering is always a spectacular event which culminates in the much-anticipated massed bands. Massed bands is a wonderful scene which sees over 20 pipe bands from around the country, playing popular tunes such as The Flower of Scotland, Amazing Grace and The Green Hills of Tyrol.
This year will see the Jeppe Pipe Band lead the massed bands in Amazing Grace, which will be recorded as a tribute to Eilidh MacLeod – a young piper who was killed in the Manchester terrorist bombings last year. The recording will be aired at the 1-year remembrance service, for the horrific attack, in Manchester later this month. Massed bands will kick off at 15:00.
The gates open at 08:30 on Saturday morning, bring your family and friends!
