Jeppe boys going to SA Champs

 Lesdedi Moloto and Ntuthuko Ndimande

The Jeppe Elite Athletes programme continues to reap rewards with two boys from the school in action at the South African Schools Championships this weekend, and two running in the SA Youth and Junior Championships on April 5 to 7.

Ntuthuko Ndimande is the star again. He won the under-17 800m and 1500m at the Gauteng champs and will be running in the 800m at the SA Schools meeting in Potch this weekend. Although he qualified in the 1500m as well his coach has decided that he should not run in it. “I enjoy both distances the same,” he said, “but my coach wants me to specialise because doing both on the same weekend is too much.”

Ntuthuko will also be running in the 800m at the SA Junior Championships in Paarl in April where he will be joined by Mzwakhe Mashaba who has qualified to run in the under-17 3000m.

Lesedi Moloto won the under-15 long jump at the Gauteng Championships and will be going to the SA Schools meeting this weekend. His distance of 6,74m was a good one. “I am very happy with my performance so early in the season and I hope I can repeat it over the weekend,” he said.

There is no under-15 age group at the junior nationals, so Lesedi will have to wait for next year to try out for that one.
