The Jeppe High School for Boys senior cross country team won the senior race at the prestigious Bryanston High Paarlauf relay event on Monday.
The race consists of four 2km legs, with the runners required to pass over an elastic band to the next competitor. Jeppe’s lead-off runner was Hopewell Nkosi, who came home first, handing over to Kyle Farnham, who was second in his leg. Mzwake Nkosi was next and he caught up the lost place.
Ntuthuko Ndimande ran the anchor leg and he won, going away, with King Edward in second place and Pretoria Boys’ High third.
Jeppe has been doing well in the regular 6km interschool races. The senior first places so far this season have been shared between Ntuthoko, Mzwake and Parktown’s Max Chaumeton.
The school has a number of good grade eight runners in its ranks this year and they are doing well in the junior races as well.
