Jeppe’s water polo is right up there

Jeppe’s 1st team has stepped up into the very top tier of schools water polo in South Africa by finishing in the top four of the St Stithians Invitational tournament last weekend, an event that included all the top sides in the country

They lost by two goals to Grey High School in the 3rd place playoff game after going down by the same margin to the eventual winners, SACS in a semi-final. Both those games were touch and go, and could have gone either way.

Earlier on the weekend Jeppe beat St David’s, Northwood, Hilton, Pretoria Boys’ High and Clifton.

They were rewarded with two players in the “best of tournament” team Calvin Kuperus and Liam Stott.

There are 11 Jeppe players in the various Gauteng Schools teams that will be playing in interprovincial teams in December. Liam and Calvin are joined in the under-19A team by Roarke Templeton. While Sebastijan Stojanovic is the under-19B side.

The Jeppe players selected are:

Under-19A – Calvin Kuperus, Liam Stott, Roarke Templeton.

Under-19B – Sebastijan Stojanovic

Under-16A – Claus Kaminski

Under-15B – Tristan Czekmany, Declan Hutton, John Carroll
