Muhammad Mahomed, our Representative Council of Learners (RCL) chairman for 2021 is looking forward to the year ahead, and is determined that the body will fulfil its double role of providing a channel for the concerns and opinions of the pupil body, and of making a difference in the greater community.
“The ordinary pupils should have a say in the school and it’s important that we hear what they have to say and pass it on,” he said. “Where possible, our role is to make suggestions about some things which could perhaps be changed to the benefit of the boys.”
As far as the RCL’s role in community outreach is concerned, Muhammad said the Covid-19 pandemic has increased the need for support. “We will be going on a second-hand clothing drive next week and, later, begin a sandwich feeding scheme for the poor schools in the suburbs surrounding us,” he said.“
“I think the RCL has a very important part to play in the school and I look forward to working together with the prefects and the school management.”
We wish Muhammad and the RCL well in their important role.
