Jeppe played in the Fasken St David’s two-day time cricket festival last weekend and came a way with two credible draws.
Playing time cricket is an unfamiliar format to the players – most school matches are one-innings or limited-overs games – but they adapted well and there were some good individual performances, and positive declarations by the captain, Breidyn Schaper, meant that the team had a chance of winning both matches.
Breidyn was one of those who did well individually he made two half centuries, 54 and 79 not out against Clifton in the 1st game. Dylan Nicholas made three big scores – 57 against Clifton and 50 and 49 against the CSA TAP team. Luke Hall got two scores – 48 vs Clifton and 57 vs the TAP team, while the top score for Jeppe was 96 by Duncan Brown against the TAP team. Brayden Hicks made 70 against them too.
The pick of the bowlers was Cian Roberston who took 9 wickets in all, including 6/56 against the TAP XI. Cael Murray also took a “fifer” – 5/24 – in the draw with the CSA side.
