MIC of Rowing:
Jeppe’s is the oldest school rowing club in the province and the school was instrumental in getting the sport started in schools in Johannesburg.
There are currently between 70 and 80 boys involved in training and weekly competition. The school’s rowing sheds are at Victoria Lake in Germiston and most of the training takes place there. Weekly competitions take place mainly at the Roodeplaat Dam north of Pretoria, although Jeppe also participates in the Buffalo Regatta in East London and in the Schools Boat Race in Port Alfred.
The recently opened Alan Francis Rowing Centre on the school campus has state-of-the-art ergo and land training facilities and a fully equipped gym.
Rowing is an endurance sport that places a premium on team work and physical fitness, making it a good sporting option for the development of discipline and character.
