The winter sports season came to an end last weekend and, although it’s still quite chilly in the early mornings, our summer sports season is already rolling with the cricketers getting into the indoor nets and the rowers into the gym.
Before the summer competitions kick off, however, we have the third term sports programme which, although it is quite short, is intense and it’s involving more and more boys every year.Athletics training has started and there will be heats next week, ahead of the interhouse competition on Thursday July 8th.
The first interschool competition, the traditional triangular meeting involving KES and Parktown, is at KES on Saturday August 17th. There are meetings on the next two Saturdays, with the interhigh taking place at Affies in Pretoria on Saturday September 14th.
The first soccer team has been in training and has played in tournaments throughout the year, with the rest of the teams joining in now. The first full fixture is on Wednesday July 31st against St Benedict’s, and the 1st team and under-15As will be playing in the St David’s tournament from September 9 to 11.
