The first soccer team, consisting of Tshepo Bopape, Donavan Lottering, Armenio Kobowane, Sabatha Mtirara, Thabiso Mamba, Siya Phinda, Ntate Pakela, Lwazi Mcineka, Thabo Mathumetse, Jaudyn April, Tebogo Thena, Katlego Thena, Tyler Loggenberg, Ikageng Mabalane, Zaahid Raawat, Sakhile Mnisi, Kenneth Martin and Gontse Morake played in the St David’s Marist Challenge Cup tournament over the weekend.
They ended up in 6th place, out of the 16 schools participating, which was a good result, considering that the side had only just been assembled and could only fit in three practice sessions ahead of the event.
Jeppe came second in their pool, which put them into the quarterfinals where they lost narrowly to Sutherland High School.
They won their top eight playoff game, but went down to the defending champions, Prestige College, in the 5th place playoff game.
