Unbeaten season for under-14A cricket

  Top all-rounder: Cameron Brown

The Jeppe under-14A team completed what has been a great year with a narrow win over St John’s during the week.

In all, they played 22 games and won 21 and drew just one – the Charl Van Rooyen Week clash with Bishops that was called off because of bad weather.

Their fixture list was top class, with only a tiny handful of the country’s top cricketing schools missing. Along the way they beat, among others, St John’s twice, Parktown, KES, St Stithians, St David’s twice, Affies, Pretoria Boys, St Alban’s, Kearsney, Grey High School and Selborne.

Last week they beat St Stithians by 68 runs in a Johnny Waite Knockout competition game, so they are on track in the first ever Johnny Waite under-14 series.

The top run-scorers for the team were Dylan Nicholas, who made 783 at an average of 71,2, followed by Duncan Brown who totalled 561 runs, at an average of 43,2.

Kaylen Archary was the top wicket taker with 36, followed by Phillip Schoeman and Simpwe Moseko who both took 27 wickets apiece.

Cameron Brown was the top all-rounder. He made 455 runs, at an average of 30,3, and took 26 wickets.

Congratulations to all the players, and to coaches Messrs Dean Laing and Chris Hummel.
