It’s been a remarkable season for the Jeppe under-14A hockey team.
They ended up unbeaten, the second year in a row that this has happened the school, setting a standard that is going to serve us well in the years to come.
The team played 29 games this season. They won 28 and drew just one, scoring 157 goals in the process and conceding 9.
All the team members were selected for one of the Southern Gauteng provincial teams, including four in the Southerns A team and four in Team Gauteng – the representative team selected from the three unions making up the province.
The under-14B team often played against the A teams of other schools and they were entered in the A sections of two festivals, but they more than held their own.
The Cs and Ds improved greatly as the season went on and ended up winning more games that they lost, which was excellent seeing that none of them had played the game before.
Jeppe’s hockey foundation is obviously solid, and the future looks bright.
